RI Dream Center holds fundraiser to help impoverished

Posted

In their never ending quest to provide help and hope to fellow Rhode Islanders the RI Dream Center held a pasta dinner fundraiser at Praise Tabernacle Church on Saturday, October 14.

With close to 100 people served at two seatings, they are considering the event a huge success.

The Dream Center posted this message of gratitude to the Facebook page.

"Our annual Pasta Dinner this past weekend at Praise Tabernacle Church in Cranston was a huge success. We are thankful to all of the amazing volunteers that came together in preparation for two seatings to benefit our continued community work with The Rhode Island Dream Center.  We appreciate all of the generous people who came in support and a special thank you goes out to The Pangburn Family, The Thirsty Beaver Hometown Pub & Grub, Powdermill Creamery and volunteer Chef Joe Cantone. We at the Rhode Island Dream Center are truly blessed and thankful," it said.

The Rhode Island Dream Center is an approved 501c3 non-profit agency that focuses on helping Rhode Island individuals that are in need.

They consist of five active outreach programs and are growing. Presently, they focus on food, clothing and living supplies for those in need, as well as addiction meetings and referral help and other mentoring programs.

They also provide services that support building self esteem and confidence, referrals for education, job opportunities, training and certification, etc., all within the homeless/low income community.

They do not deny services based on race, creed, gender, disability, religion, or national origin. Their goal is to help people in need, no matter how big or small that need is. We are also a member of the National Dream Center Network based in Los Angeles, CA.

The fundraiser on Saturday was held to help with the purchasing on a second food truck.

A few of the programs that the Dream Center provides include; recovery groups; relationships, addictions and the past: everyone is recovering from something; food trucks; loving, feeding, clothing and providing hope to those in need. These programs are provided seven days a week.

Special events available include; Caring for people; body mind and soul; makeovers, dinners, and more; the church bus—find a pickup location near you to Sunday Services.

The next big event they have coming up is their Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Sunday, November 19, at Praise Tabernacle Church, 333 Park Avenue, Cranston.
