Peloquin finishes final season at RIC

FROM STAFF REPORTS RIC women’s lacrosse head coach Jessica Spurr’s (career record: 9-28; .243) women’s lacrosse team wrapped up the 2021 season with a 2-6 overall record and a 1-6 (seventh place) mark in the Little East Conference.  

Senior attacker Alexia Peloquin (Cranston) closed out her career having played in 48 games, starting 33 of them. She totaled four goals and five assists for nine points to go along with 32 ground balls, 10 draw controls and nine caused turnovers. 

As a senior in 2021, Peloquin played in eight games, starting all of them. She registered one goal and three assists for four points to go along with 11 ground balls, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Peloquin scored one goal and picked up four ground balls in the 13-10 win over UMass Dartmouth on April 24. She tallied a pair of assists in the 17-7 win over Mitchell on March 22.  

As a senior in 2020 (Covid-19 shortened), Peloquin played in three games, starting all of them. Peloquin collected three ground balls and caused one turnover. She registered one ground ball in a 17-5 loss at Emerson on March 9. Peloquin picked up two ground balls in a 19-14 loss at Mass. Maritime on March 11.

As a junior in 2019, played in 12 games, starting in three of them. She had one goal for one point to go along with three ground balls, one draw control and two caused turnovers. Peloquin had a goal and one ground ball in a 10-9 win vs. Eastern Connecticut on April 23. She picked up two ground balls in a 13-4 win over UMass Dartmouth on April 17. 

As a sophomore in 2018, Peloquin played in 10 games, starting nine of them. She had two goals and two assists for four points to go along with eight ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. Peloquin had a goal, two assists, three ground balls and a draw control vs. Dean on March 19. 

As a freshman in 2017, Peloquin played in 15 games, starting 10 of them. She totaled seven ground balls, three draw controls and one caused turnover. Peloquin had two ground balls in a 9-3 win at Becker on March 25. 

She is an elementary education major with a concentration in special education and a 2016 graduate of Cranston High School East. 

Senior defender Hannah Ambrosia (Warwick) closed out her career having playing in 52 games, starting 47 of them. She had eight goals and two assists for 10 points to go along with 54 ground balls, 21 draw controls and 16 caused turnovers. 

As a senior in 2021, Ambrosia played in eight games, starting all of them. She had five goals and one assist for six points to go along with nine ground balls, 18 draw controls and four caused turnovers. Ambrosia registered two goals and added one assist in a 13-9 loss to Castleton on April 17.  

As a senior in 2020 (Covid-19 shortened), Ambrosia played in three games, starting all of them. She totaled eight ground balls, one draw control and three caused turnovers. Ambrosia collected six ground balls and one caused turnover in a 19-14 loss at Mass. Maritime on March 11. She registered one ground ball, one draw control and two caused turnovers in a 17-5 loss at Emerson on March 9. 

As a junior in 2019, Ambrosia played in 14 games, starting all of them. She had 18 ground balls and two caused turnovers. Ambrosia had three ground balls in a game on two occasions. She had three ground balls and a caused turnover in a 14-2 win vs. Southern Vermont on March 24 and again in a 13-4 victory vs. UMass Dartmouth on April 17. 

As a sophomore in 2018, Ambrosia played in 12 games, starting all of them. She had two goals and one assist for three points to go along with 14 grounds balls and five caused turnovers. Ambrosia had two goals and an assist vs. Dean on March 19. 

As a freshman in 2017, Ambrosia played in 15 games, starting 10 of them. She totaled one goal for one point. Ambrosia scored one goal, picked up two ground balls and caused one turnover in a 16-7 loss vs. Elms on April 28. 

She is an environmental studies major and a 2016 graduate of Pilgrim High School. 

Senior defender Natalie Kulacz (Cumberland) played in eight games, starting all of them. She scored one goal and recorded two assists for three points to go along with 18 ground balls, two draw controls and 12 caused turnovers. Kulacz scored one goal in the 17-7 win over Mitchell on March 22. She notched an assists and picked up five ground balls in a 13-9 loss vs. Castleton on April 17. 

Junior defender Shelby Brooks (Warwick) played in seven games, starting six of them. Brooks totaled three ground balls and caused one turnover. Brooks had three ground balls in 13-10 win over UMass Dartmouth on April 24. 

Junior defender Amara Gibau (North Providence) played in eight games, starting all of them. Gibau registered three goals and three assists for six points to go along with 18 ground balls, 19 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers. She scored three goals in the 13-10 win over UMass Dartmouth on April 24. Gibau had four ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 17-3 loss vs. Plymouth State on March 27. 

Junior midfielder Kassondra Rivera (Warwick) played in eight games, starting all of them. She recorded one goal for one point to go along with eight ground balls, four caused turnovers and one draw control. Rivera netted one goal in the 17-4 setback vs. Keene State on April 15. She picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers in a 24-6 setback vs. Eastern Connecticut on April 20. 

Sophomore attacker Linda Carrascoza (Johnston) played in seven games, starting one of them.  

Sophomore attacker Jennie Fiano (Smithfield) played in eight games, starting seven of them. She recorded one goal for one point to go along with 14 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. Fiano scored one goal in the 13-10 win over UMass Dartmouth on April 24. She totaled four ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 17-4 loss vs. Keene State on April 15. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Shannon O’Connell (Narragansett) played in eight games, starting all of them. She was 2-6 with a 15.75 goals-against average, 82 saves and a .394 save percentage in 480:00 minutes of action. O’Connell registered double-digit saves on four occasions. O’Connell recorded 14 saves three times on the season. 

Sophomore midfielder Alyssa Silvestre (Warwick) played in seven games, starting four of them. Silvestre scored five goals for five points to go along with seven ground balls and one caused turnover. She scored three goals in the 17-7 win over Mitchell on March 22.
