Underdogs no more, the RiverDogs 10U – Micheletti completed a remarkable postseason run on Sunday, capturing the 2025 New England AAU Baseball 10U Open Silver Championship with a thrilling 18–14 win over Cape Riptide at Mason Field.

The RiverDogs entered the playoffs as the 18th seed, barely clinching a spot in the tournament, but that only made their championship run more impressive. Powered by heart, hustle, and hometown pride, the team stormed through the playoff bracket, knocking off higher-seeded teams on their way to the title.

“This team never gave up,” said Head Coach Joseph M “We didn’t come in as favorites, but we played like champions when it mattered most. These boys earned every bit of this.”

Made up of players from Johnston Little League, the RiverDogs represent the best of local baseball, teamwork, passion, and community spirit. Many of the players have played together since tee-ball, growing up on the same fields in Johnston.

The championship game itself was a rollercoaster. After falling behind 3–0 early, the RiverDogs exploded for a 16-run third inning, led by Jack K’s 4-for-4 performance, including two doubles and two singles. His two-RBI double helped blow the game open. Evan Y, Lucas P, Bryce P, and Gio T all contributed multi-hit games in the team’s 17-hit outburst.

Cape Riptide battled back with 10 combined runs in the third and sixth innings, but the RiverDogs’ early cushion held. On the mound, Jack K and Tommy C combined for six strikeouts, and Bryce P closed the game out in a gritty effort against a powerful offense.

This title adds to the team’s growing legacy, following its 2024 New England AAU 10U Fall Baseball League Championship. Back-to-back titles, including this improbable run as the lowest seed in the tournament, solidify the RiverDogs as one of the most exciting youth teams in New England.

The coaching staff: Head Coach Joseph M, Shawn P, Gil B, and Kevin P, played a vital role in guiding and motivating the team throughout the season and playoffs. Behind the scenes, a dedicated group of parents provided unwavering support, from coordinating travel and team needs to fueling the dugout energy game after game. Their commitment was essential to this championship run and a true reflection of the RiverDogs family spirit.

RiverDogs Roster: Antonio M, Bryce P, Efrain H, Evan Y, Giovanni T, Jack K, Liam H, Lucas H, Max B, Tommy C, Wyatt D, Lucas P
