City Hall lights up for Christmas

Although Christmas looks a bit different this year due to COVID-19, traditions do not stop. On Dec. 1, Mayor Allan Fung lit the City Hall Christmas tree and decorations as part of a virtual event streamed on the city’s Facebook page.

After Santa Claus arrived by fire truck and City Hall was lit for the season, the mayor and his wife, Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung, joined with Santa for a reading of “The Night Before Christmas” in front of the indoor decorations and tree.

“No matter in person or on Facebook Live, our community always comes together this time of year to celebrate the holidays,” Fung said. “I’m glad that so many people joined virtually and were able to witness the lighting of our Christmas tree as well as hear Domenic Kaffenberger play a Christmas melody for all to enjoy. I especially loved reading ‘The Night Before Christmas’ to all our young children. Even Santa wouldn’t miss a visit to City Hall. This is a special city and I’ve been so proud to lead it.”
