Welcome back to El Tapatio

Mayor Allan Fung recently welcomed the return of El Tapatio to Cranston with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The family-owned Mexican restaurant previously operated on Atwood Avenue but closed that location about six years ago after its lease expired. Its new location is at 1045 Reservoir Ave. The restaurant is owned by Paloma Lepe and her husband, Pedro, along with her brothers, Franciso and Ricardo, and Ricardo’s wife, Yvonne. They have continued service at their two other locations – one in North Kingstown and another in Massachusetts – on a take-out basis. El Tapatio is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. (Herald photos by Steve Popiel)
