An early visit in Cranston

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus made early rounds in Cranston on Sunday, riding a fire truck through the city ahead of Christmas as part of a special event with multiple community sponsors. The procession, which was streamed live on Facebook, began in Edgewood and traveled west across the city before concluding at Cranston High School West, where Santa said hello to sledders. Mayor-elect Ken Hopkins accompanied Santa and Mrs. Claus aboard the fire truck, which was escorted by Cranston Police. The organizers of the event, known as the “Santa Squad,” included Hopkins, the Roberts family, Robin Ferra, Northpointe Bank, and Jess Braza and Taylor Swanson of Century 21.
