Dr. Leslie Brow, Danielle Mushaweh, and Dr. Kimberli Murphy of The Sargent Center baed in Warwick have recently obtained the Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) credential from the Brain Injury Association of America.
This accomplishment underscores The Sargent Center’s commitment to excellence and professional development, further establishing the center as a leading expert in brain injury services. The CBIS certification is provided to professionals who demonstrate 500 hours of direct contact with individuals with brain injuries. Candidates must also provide documentation of qualifying experience and pass a comprehensive assessment to earn the credential. According to the Brain Injury Association of America, acquiring the CBIS credential is an important step for specialists, ensuring they remain a valuable, marketable, and well-informed asset in the field of brain injury services.
“I am honored to lead a team of credentialed Certified Brain Injury Specialists,” Dr. Leslie Brow, Executive Vice President of Programs at The Sargent Center said in a stement. “This accomplishment enhances Sargent Center's regional recognition as specialists in the field of brain injury by adding the latest treatment techniques to the services we provide to individuals and families addressing both traumatic and acquired injuries to the brain.”
The Sargent Center Educational Programs include a non-public day school for students with disabilities with accompanying programs providing neuro-rehabilitation and brain injury services, a Regional Resource Center (RRC) that serves schools, professionals, families, individuals with disabilities, and the general public, and a Family Support Center. The Sargent Center School includes rehabilitation and brain injury services for early childhood/preschool, elementary, middle, and high school.
The Brain Injury Program works with Hospitals and Rehabilitation Centers across New England. The School also operates the Pontus step-down program, a community transitional work experience program, and school-to-adult services. In 2017, the Sargent Center celebrated 100 years of providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to disabled children, young adults, and their families.
