We became fans of Keane’s Wood-Fired Catering when they opened in a tiny storefront in Edgewood, focusing on their catering business, but offering a taste of their barbeque to the neighborhood as take-out on Friday nights.
Outgrowing their space, they moved to 715 Warwick Ave., just over the Cranston line, where they quickly grew their business of catering weddings, corporate events, private parties and just about any reason for a good, down-home barbeque.
Friday night may be fish night for some, but for us it has been BBQ beef, chicken, sausage, brisket, pastrami or whatever sandwich is on the menu. There is always a “special” sandwich on Friday.
Give them a call or order online, and pick up your order on Friday between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
I wait for the BBQ meatloaf, while Joyce enjoys the Hanoi chicken. We both love the pastrami, which is as tender and tasty-and huge-as any we have tasted in Rhode Island.
The huge sandwich comes with a side of potato salad, Cole slaw or cornbread. We’re partial to the potato salad.
While their main business is parties, large and small, what started as a way to introduce themselves to the neighborhood has become as popular as Friday fish and chips.
Try the frozen pint of brisket meatballs with marinara sauce or pint of BBQ chili to reheat later ($8 each).
Phone number is 437-6933.
