Second Spring Street Festival sends waves of joy through Rolfe Square

THE PATH MOST TAKEN: The entire street was closed down to accommodate the numerous vendors and give people a chance to safely walk the road with their children. Traffic and parking was still allowed on side streets so that all businesses on Rolfe Square could stay open during the festival.

DOG DAY OUT: Zuess the canine demonstrated his amazing training by attacking Officer Shane O’Donnell on command.

BLAST FROM THE MEDITERANIAN: Alanis mediterranean Bistro served up gyros, falafel, chicken tenders and tender steak to those stopping by during the festival. Head chef Sami Almuhtaseb (left) and Part-Owner Mohammad Alani proudly smiled and dished out delicious flavors.

MUSICAL GUESTS: The Cranston High School East band entertained attendees to the Spring Festival by setting up on Rolfe Square in full school band regalia.

PRINCESS STORE: Owner of Just Tickled Jeannie MacMasters sells everything for your little princess in her bright pink booth.

WILLY GOES WILD: Wooly Willy, the mascot of the Artist’s Exchange, was outside to greet guests of the festival and to draw people in to look at the wonderful artwork and programs available at the exchange.

Cranston Police hold second annual Spring Street Festival on Rolfe Square this past Sunday, May 21. With the work that has gone into revitalizing Rolfe Square, Community Outreach Captain Justin Dutra decided it would make the perfect place to hold this year’s festivities. With the help of Debbie Wood from We Be Jammin’ in organizing the vendors, the day went off without a hitch. With over 170 craft and food vendors, the festival took up the entire stretch of Rolfe Square from Park Avenue all the way to Sam’s Food Stores at 460 Pontiac Ave. (Photos by Steve Popiel).
