Fans of the global restaurant chain Shake Shack lined up Tuesday, August 8, in Garden City to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the chain’s second Rhode Island location. Having started as a food cart in New York City over 20 years ago, the restaurant has come a long way with more than 400 locations world-wide.
Mayor Ken Hopkins presented the business with a citation from the city and oversaw the ribbon cutting. He was joined by Citywide Councilwoman Nicole Renzulli and Director of Economic Development Franklin Paulino to welcome the business to Cranston.
The jazz trio Bay Swing was played in the restaurant to commemorate the occasion. Bay Swing is a three-piece jazz band featuring Jack Soref on the guitar, John Debossu on the bass and Andy Reich playing the fiddle. (Herald photos by Steve Popiel)
