Librarian Meredith Moore and Library Program Supervisor Ellen Basso invited some former students to help shelve books at the newly constructed library facility. These students, who were volunteer helpers when they attended the school years ago, volunteered their own time to help prepare the new library for incoming elementary students that will be attending the new school. August 15 was the first day the space was officially used and the team was ready to get to work and prepare it for its future work of helping to educate students. The first day of school for students at Garden City Elementary, like all schools in Cranston, will be August 31 for kindergarten and grades 1, 6 and 9 and September 1 for all others.
