To finish up the Sunday school year, the students and teachers at St. David’s on the Hill Episcopal Church hosted their final “Youth Sunday” of the year, a quarterly event where the students run the service, fulfilling all roles from welcoming parishioners to presenting the readings and the sermon. For the culminating student-led sermon of the year, the students put on a play, written by teacher Michael Sheldon, chronicling the life of St. David. The students each had a role, from speaking and acting to reading with older students supporting the younger students in their roles.
Following the conclusion of the Youth Sunday service, a carnival and faire were held on the grounds of the church, along with a potluck luncheon and celebration. The students could rotate through the many carnival games and activities, receive tattoos and have their faces painted, all as part of the year-end celebration. The Sunday school program will resume again in September.
