STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

(The final in the saga)

The end has come! The ninth and last Star Wars adventure, which started in 1977, before many of its fans were even born, is drawing huge crowds to the Showcase to sit for two hours and 20 minutes through more intergalactic battles.

The newer, younger stars have taken over for Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, although they have brief cameo appearances.

Daisy Ridley is back as Rey, the heroine of the story, along with her nemesis Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver. Chewbacca and C-3PO have major roles, facing kidnappers and loss of memory. The long movie is filled with endless battles, fascinating creatures and John Williams’ sometimes intrusive score. Missing is much of the humor seen in past episodes.

The movie is filled with nostalgia, as each character, past and present, has his and her moments, leading up to an ending that should satisfy loyal fans. Our heroes take a last stand to save the galaxy, knowing that "good people will fight if we need them,” and they do. Lots of laser fights fill the screen and a lot of it seems familiar, but that won't stop people from filling the seats.

Rated PG-13.
