Four months ago, I made the decision to run for Cranston City Wide Council. I was tired of just talking about the need for change — I knew it was time to take action. As a self-employed business owner, I believe I can bring a fresh perspective and a voice for the people to the council, helping to unify its members and work towards the best interests of our city.

I’ve lived in Cranston for most of my life, growing up on Pendleton Street and later Elwyn Street on Laurel Hill. I attended Arlington School, Hugh B. Bain Jr. High, and graduated with honors from the auto body program at Cranston West High School.

I worked at Performance Enterprises filling up the city school buses. After working at a body shop for a year, I struck out on my own at the age of 20 and have been self-employed ever since. My passion for cars led me to the auto business. All in Cranston: Calef Motors, Dee Auto Village and then Volare Motors on Park Avenue specializing in Volvo sale/service for almost 23 years.

In addition to my work with cars, I’ve also been a landlord and owned several nightclubs and bars. These experiences have given me a unique understanding of the diverse needs of our community. I been with my partner Greg for 30 years and we have two dogs, Brody and Lexi, that are our world. I’m proud to be a non-politician running for City Council, and I believe my street smarts and business knowledge make me an ideal candidate to represent the people of Cranston.

If elected, I will be a strong supporter of our police department, first responders, firefighters, public workers and school committee. I believe that supporting our schools and the education of our children is critical to Cranston’s future. I will work tirelessly to keep our taxes as low as possible, develop a plan to clean up our streets and highways, and invest in infrastructure to stabilize our taxes.

As a longtime business owner, I will be a voice for all the businesses, working to address the issues we face and ensure they continue to thrive in our city. My goal is to bring people together and move Cranston forward. I look forward to meeting with as many residents as possible during my campaign and earning your vote.
