Johnston Police Deputy Chief Joseph Razza said in a statement Saturday that the department had recovered four chalices that were stolen from St. Rocco’s Church last week.
Razza said in the statement that three of the chalices were recovered in pre-theft condition, but one had been damaged and pieced out. The chalices had an estimated combined worth of about $10,000.
The department confirmed that the suspect – David Ferrera, 63, with a last known address of 1688 Westminister St., Providence – is still being sought.
Razza said the investigation is ongoing and those who have information regarding Ferrera’s whereabouts can contact Johnston Police at 231-4210, or Detective Thomas Dwyer at 231-3158 and tdwyer@johnstonpd.com
Johnston Police said the theft occurred on Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. The suspect was identified as Ferrara on Oct. 23, at which point a warrant was issued for his arrest.
