To the Editor:
We wholeheartedly support and endorse Steve Stycos for mayor of Cranston. Our reasons for endorsing Steve are many. His experience and dedication to the city are unquestionable. Steve has 20 consecutive years of committed public service as a Cranston school board member and as a City Councilor, elected citywide for his most recent term. Steve has demonstrated the courage to stand up for and with citizens to oppose and defeat the development of a gas station in a residential area that would have devalued people's homes and created a toxic environment for their children. And he has demonstrated his sense of fairness by advocating and fighting for the lowest paid city workers to get hourly pay increases.
However, it’s not just his experience and knowledge of city governance and his willingness to fight for issues that affect every constituent that lives, works and owns a business in the city that makes him the best person for the job – its who he is as a person and a leader.
Most people running for mayor have political ambitions – Steve’s purpose is not for personal or political recognition or to use the office as a stepping stone to a higher office. His goal is to ensure that Cranston is a place where people and businesses feel safe, are treated fairly, and provides opportunity and stability for growth and development.
Steve is pro-business, pro-environment and pro-education, but most of all he’s pro-Cranston. He understands that Cranston must work for everyone, businesses, families, and kids who need a place to grow, play sports, and learn. He knows that our city is vulnerable if it doesn’t preserve and protect our natural resources and strengthen our infrastructure. Cranston only works when it works for everyone.
We support Steve because he is experienced, knowledgeable, and courageous, and we endorse Steve because we trust him. Throughout out his career and service, Steve has demonstrated that you can trust him to do the right thing. We need a mayor that we can trust.

Wholehearted support for this letter! Trust is key-perhaps more now than ever.
Imagine leadership that is about all of us-Cranston residents-and you are imagining what a Stycos-led city will look like.
Wont that be refreshing?

I also support Steve Stycos because I have know him for over 30 years and for more then twenty years I have watched him work to make Cranston a wonderful place to raise a family. Steve cares about the sidewalks of our city and the farm lands of western Cranston, where the food they produce are sold at the Farmer's Market and shared with food banks that Steve has helped create. Steve talks the talk and walks the the walk and yes he will be a mayor we can trust to listen to and do right by it's citizens.
