Warwick residents had a preview of the field for Warwick’s two citywide School Committee seats in September’s primary, with the top four candidates each moving on to the general election.

That top four included the School Committee’s two incumbents – David Testa and Karen Bachus – and two challengers – Sean Wiggins and Zachary Colón.

It was Wiggins who led the way in September, followed by Testa, then Bachus, then Colón. Though the percentages that each candidate got changed a bit on Tuesday night, the order did not, as Wiggins was elected and Testa, the School Building Committee chairman, was reelected to the School Committee.

Overall, Wiggins took 30.2% of the vote, Testa took 26.5%, Bachus took 21.3% and Colón took 20.6%. Voters could choose up to two candidates on their ballots.

Wiggins was the only candidate to hold a watch party, doing so at Runway 41, a bar just off of Post Road. Testa, Bachus and Colón each opted to watch the results come in at home.

For Wiggins, the final result made the citywide campaign process worth it.

“I am incredibly humbled by the results and support I received yesterday,” Wiggins said. “This has been 11 grueling months on my family and all of those who supported me along the way, and the result has shown that our hard work has paid off. It is overwhelming, and I have nothing but profound gratitude.”

Wiggins promised to serve with integrity, transparency and care, and thanked Bachus for her work in her 12 years on the committee, and Colón for his campaign.

Testa, similarly, thanked Warwick’s voters for reelecting him and commended his opponents on Facebook for their campaigns.
