“King Lear” was at Brown University.

Mark Lerman directed “Exchange at Momosa” at Perishable Theatre. The late Wendy Overly was in the cast, along with Sharon Carpentier.

Cranston’s Park Theatre closed its second-run movie house for renovations, with plans to open in the spring with first run movies.

“Into the Deep,” a spectacular IMAX 3D movie, was one of the best 3D movies ever made, bringing the viewer up close to the underwater creatures.

Edward Albee’s “The Zoo Story” starring Max Vogler, was at Trinity, followed by Eliza Anderson’s “The New England Sonata,” starring Andy MacDonald and Amy Van Nostrand.

Tommy Makem was at the Greenwich Odeum. Tickets were $20.

The ninth annual Mardi Gras Ball was at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, featuring Charivari, Geno Delafose and Steve Riley.

“The Scarlet Pimpernel” was at PPAC.

40 years ago

Remember local folk singers Katzberg and Snyder and Brian Jones’s all-tap revue? They were featured on Channel 36’s “This Week.”

Brown University presented Moliere’s “The Misanthrope,” directed by James Barnhill, with John Lucas doing the lighting.

P.D.Q. Bach joined the R.I. Philharmonic at the Ocean State Theatre.

William Hurt, James Woods and Sigourney Weaver starred in “Eyewitness.” Gene Hackman and Barbara Streisand starred in “All Night Long.”

City Nights Theatre moved from Pawtucket to the El Morocco in Johnston, performing “Same Time, Next Year.”

Peaches and Herb were at the Center Stage in East Providence, followed by Dizzy Gillespie.

The Meadowbrook Restaurant had a fried shrimp, scallop or clam dinner for $4. Governor Francis had a one-pound sirloin with baked potato and salad for $6.25. The Bayview Seafood Restaurant in Oakland Beach offered dinner for two, including fish and chips, chowder and clamcakes for $5.50. Mario’s Restaurant had baked scrod for $3.50. Of the four Warwick establishments, only Gov. Francis remains.

The Yugoslav Folk Ballet was at the Ocean State.
