To the Editor:

I have lived in Norwood a very long time. I have this thing for clamcakes and chowder and have traveled all over to taste the best.

I have found the best at Tommy’s Clam Shack. Tommy’s chowder is amazing smooth and rich. It’s so tasty. So, recently I went down to Tommy’s as I usually do to try something new. I wanted to try the shrimp cocktail and I ordered the clam cakes and lobster trio for dinner for my family. When I get home I looked in the bag and I could not find my shrimp cocktail so I went all the way back. That’s a Rhode Island thing you know, “all the way back.” I spoke to the man in the window and told him he forgot my shrimp. So he gave me another one without charge I went back home and lo and behold in the bottom of the bag was the shrimp.

I went all the way back to Tommy’s and told them. He said he knew it was in the bag so I turned around and I paid for the shrimp. They all had a big laugh over it and then I went and bought a gift certificate for dinner for a friend.

When I was ready to leave they told me that Tommy in the back would like to talk to me so I went in the back to talk to him and meet him. I told him I’ve been a connoisseur of clamcakes and chowder since the good old days of Rocky Point and after all these years of looking for just the right one he has won first place in my heart for clamcakes and chowder.

I just want to tell everyone what a wonderful place it is like eating at home with good friends. It is a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you Tom and your whole crew for a job well done I hope many people come to visit you and enjoy it as much or more as I have. Thank you for your kindness, your thoughtfulness, your caring and your compassion. We sure do need it in this day and age.
