The difference between my two granddaughters…

This year my youngest granddaughter, Sidney is really questioning whether Santa exists. She just turned ten.  Sidney is that magical little child who delights in everything.  Her smiles and infectious giggles are contagious.

Her older sister, Savannah is another story.  She is now twelve years old.  As a baby she was very serious.  She would stop walking, out of caution, if there was a crack in the sidewalk.  She questioned the Santa thing, at a very young age.  She looked at it logically.  How does he get in the house?  How could he possibly deliver all those presents? Reindeers don’t fly!

She was the most cautious toddler I’d ever seen.  She hated car rides…. she would cry the whole time.  She’s very sensitive and smart.  It’s fun watching her become a teenager…probably because I’m not her mother.   I find it interesting that two children raised the same could be so different.

I had one daughter, so I have nothing to compare it to. The youngest is a fashionista and doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her clothes choices.  She really expresses herself through her outfits.  She’ll wear headbands with cat ears, boots with gems and mix and matches colors.

Savannah, like her mom, dresses more on the conservative side.  Don’t get me wrong, she is always very stylish but she doesn’t take fashion risks.  Savannah sometimes will even comment on my fashion choices. I tend to be more like my little Sidney, or maybe she’s more like her Nonna!  I embrace their differences and enjoy them in different ways.  I’m going to enjoy this last year of magic with Sidney still believing in Santa and see what the future brings!
