The Historic Park Theater hits 99 years young

The hazy, hot and humid days of summer could not deter the almost one thousand people from attending the Queen cover band Majesty at the Park Theater on Saturday, September 9.

Prior to the main event, people were able to enjoy free music provided by Louie Bello, Patrick Kearns, Kevin Herchen and Kelvin Fabian in the Park Cafe.

Inside the Comedy Park there were tables set up with varied vendors, encouraging people to get their holiday shopping done early.

Alongside the vendors, there was an auction table set up with a myriad of prizes; sports memorabilia, self care products, dinners, massages and limo rounds just to name a few.

Owner of the Park Theater, Ed Brady was moved by the show of support and love from the community.

"This theater deserves all the love and support it can get. I am beyond humbled and grateful for everyone who is here tonight, and while maybe not here in person, but in spirit. I could never do what I do without the sustenance I get from them," he said.

Tied into the special night was a Cranston Cares Community Rally. Members of the board joined Brady by volunteering and helping the event run smoothly.

Ward 2 Councilwoman, Aniece Germain presented Brady with a citation from the City on the achievement of 99 years.

"This is a project of love. Cranston needs to be a beacon for the arts. We need to bring all people to our City and celebrate what we have and what we can offer. I will continue to persevere to save this building and be able to make it to 100 years," said Brady.

Concert goer, and Cranston resident Jason Golditch was thoroughly impressed with the theater.

"I have not been here in years. I am completely amazed and impressed with the renovation. They did such a great job. Everything looks great. I had no idea how big it actually is," Golditch said.

Anyone who still wants to support the continued fundraising efforts, check out the link below for the auction. The auction will remain live until September 23rd and 100 percent of the proceeds will go towards the continued restoration efforts and future education fund.

On Saturday, September 23,  is the auction finale with DJ@djklutch. An evening of champagne, celebrating and fun.
