To the Editor,
I am a former resident of Cranston, now living in Pennsylvania. The Cranston Herald is delivered weekly to my current address.
I have spent many years as a scout, scout leader and now as a fundraising consultant for the Narragansett Boy Scout Council of America based in Cranston.
In your last edition, the article written by Pam Shiff, “Cranston Troup 6 has 13 new Arrows of Light,” captured the essence of what scouting is all about. Ms. Shiff is a wonderful storyteller. Her article is a roadmap on how scouting develops great adults. Her quotes are significant, her photos were spot-on and this story is important for both parents and donors.
I would highly recommend anyone who is fundraising for scouts (at any level) to use this article as an example of why scouting is critical to today’s youth and the necessity to continue to fund and support scouts.
I would like to thank Ms. Shiff and the Cranston Herald for running this article and bringing to light the value of scouting.
