Falcons take 2nd at divisions

The Rhode Island boys indoor track and field division championships were held at the Providence Career & Technical Academy on Monday evening, and a handful of local athletes made some noise.

Bishop Hendricken won the Suburban Division, while the Cranston West Falcons placed right behind in second. Cranston East finished in ninth place as a team.

Here is a look at some of the results from the meet:

West’s relay team of Nick DelNigro, Alex DelNigro, Mike Conti and Cade Petrella took second in the 800 while Dylan Maples, Shawn Robbins, Nate Quero and Aaron Bun took third in the 3,200.

Petrella went on to finish second in the 55 meter hurdles, while Nick DelNigro took third in the 55 dash. Maples later placed fourth in the 1,500 run.

Maples also took third in the 1,000 run while Petrella secured a fifth-place finish in the 300 dash.

Chris McCarthy took fifth in the weight throw, while Petrella took fifth in the long jump for West.

Here are some other local results from Monday:

Bishop Hendricken’s relay team of Nick Capalbo, Ian Hopkins, Michael Hanlon and Michael Feret won the 3,200, while Hendricken’s Brandyn Durand, Sean Fagan, Tom Comella and Kobby Harvey-Ewusi won the 800. James Kiernan took first in the 3,000 run for Hendricken, while Fagan won the 55 hurdles.

Comella later won the 55 dash, while teammate Luke Henseler won the 1,500 run. Fagan also took home first place in the 300 dash, while Matt St. Jean won the 1,000 run for the Hawks.

Hendricken’s relay team of Hanlon, Harvey-Ewusi, Hunter Mumford and Jacob Naiefeh won the 1,600, while John Santos took first in the high jump for the Hawks.

Dante Caouette secured first for Hendricken in the shot put, while teammate Jake Picard won the weight throw.

Toll Gate’s Dylan Barlow won the long jump.

Andrew Woodbine finished second in the 3,000 run for Hendricken, while teammate David DelBonis took second in the 1,500. Comella also finished second in the 300 dash.

Hendricken’s Evan Reynolds placed second in the 1,000 run, while Pilgrim’s Henry Leclaire took second in the high jump.

Cam Hughes placed second in the shot put for the Hawks, while teammate John Fay took second in the weight throw.

Ryan Dyer finished third for the Hawks in the 3,000 run, while Reynolds took third in the 1,600. Justin Dorsey took third in the 300 dash for Pilgrim.

Teighan Jeremy finished third for the Hawks in the high jump, while Colby Cuthill took third in the weight throw.

Toll Gate’s relay team of Barlow, Josh Paiva, Dylan Aunchman and Amedeo Ucci finished fourth in the 800, while Hendricken’s Aidan Moreira took fourth in the 3,000 run. Nic Comella finished fourth in the 55 dash for Hendricken as well.

Barlow, Paiva, Ucci and Elijah Aguilar placed fourth for Toll Gate in the 1,600, while Josiah Nhar took fourth in the high jump for the Hawks.

Aunchman would later go on to take fourth in the long jump for the Titans.

Pilgrim’s relay team of Dorsey, James Salisbury Jr., Michael Nichols and Aidan Spieler finished fifth in the 800. Hendricken’s Cole McAssey took fifth in the 55 hurdles, as well as fifth in the 55 hurdles.

James Gobewole finished fifth in the 55 dash for the Hawks, while Hopkins took fifth in the 1,000 run for Hendricken.
