Margaret M. Wallace, 87 of Jefferson, MA passed away after a brief illness.

Born in Cumberland, RI she was the daughter of Arthur P. Carr and Margaret Mary (Chamberlain) Carr.  Margaret attended St. Xavier’s where she graduated valedictorian and continued on to Albertus Magnus College obtaining a Bachelor’s in Education and later a Master’s from Boston College.  She taught French and Spanish at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School for 30 years before retiring in 1999.

Affectionately known as Peggy to her friends and family, she was an avid reader and loved her old movies and westerns.   She was a member of the Cumberland Lincoln Community Chorus for several years before moving to Warwick, RI. She was so happy and proud when she became a grandmother to Jenna, John and Natalie Wallace.

Margaret was predeceased by her brother, Arthur C. Carr and is survived by her son Thomas V. Wallace and his wife Dr. Jacqueline Goldberg Wallace and their three children of Catonsville, MD; her daughter, Margaret A. Schofield of Jefferson, MA; her sister, Elizabeth A. Maher and her husband Richard C. Maher of Longs, SC and several nieces and nephews:  Theresa and James Williams of Morrisville, NC; Bonnie Brown, of Wendell, NC; Michael and Nancy Carr of Oak Park, IL; Jacqueline Levesque of North Kingstown RI; Stephen Carr and Bryan Lewis of El Dorado Hills, CA; Robert and Michelle Carr of Avon, CT; Arthur and Jennifer Carr of Wooster, OH and 7 grand nieces and 5 grand nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 350 Fair St, Warwick, RI on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:30 am.

Burial will be private and held at Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland, RI.
