The torrential rain cleared just in time last Wednesday for the Cranston High School West girls tennis to hit the courts at Roger Williams Park for a unique practice session.
Taking the trip to the Providence courts offered players a different playing experience. The public courts, run by Nestor Bernabe, the owner and director of Providence Tennis, are clay.
“I love it,” said Angelina DiBiasio, a sophomore co-captain who plays second singles. “This is a cool place and it is good to experiment on different surfaces to help enhance our game.”
Christian Morris, the West coach reached out to Bernabe to organize the practice session for the 30-player roster. Bernabe hopes more coaches reach out to arrange time. “We hosted the middle school championships in May,” he said. “We’d love to host more (teams)”, he said.
