West wins two straight

The Cranston West girls basketball team has picked up some steam as of late, getting back to back wins by beating South Kingstown 54-39 and Westerly 71-47.

Kyla Buco led the Falcons with 19 points against the Bulldogs while Alyssa Robinson added 15 and Maia Riccio 14. Riccio also hauled in 10 rebounds in the victory.

Robinson led West with 15 points against Sk while Olivia Tedeschi-Moran scored 12 and Buco 10.

The Falcons took on La Salle on Tuesday night, but the results were not available at press time.

BOYS HOCKEY

Falcons claim first place

The Cranston hockey co-op grabbed two wins last week to improve to first place in its division.

The Falcons beat RMT in a shootout. Jacob Bovay scored the team’s lone goal in regulation and then another in the shootout. Brady Scanlon scored another goal in the shootout, while goalie Jaedon Case finished with nine saves overall.

The co-op beat Lincoln 7-5 the previous game. Justin Drohen netted a hat trick while Nathan Kempe, Grant Bailey, Harry Woloohojian and Case also scored for the Falcons.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Portsmouth edges East

Albert Kesse and Juel Goris each scored 15 points while Darian Peterson notched 13 in the Bolts’ 72-62 loss to host Portsmouth on Monday.
