Report Inappropriate Comments

I too was in attendance at this meeting and I came away with a completely different point of view from this reporter. I heard person after person come up and agree that yes, we are all in favor of alternative energy but that not only has the city allowed solar installations to be built in the city without restriction and without the city's control, but the impacts that they have had are permanent as Mr. Doe has said. Not only are they permanent but they are seriously detrimental to the environment, to the neighborhood, to the history and culture of our city and to the value of our homes.

I found that this article placed more importance on supporting what has already been done to the city by the city in allowing solar installations to be installed even though it was without regard to road view or neighborhood impact. They also allowed single owners of land to lease their land for pure profit and then negatively impact the neighborhood with environmental and visual damage as well as enormous power lines that could potentially emit dangerous effects on the neighborhood.

I am concerned about the trees and the animals and the people and the value of my home but I'm most concerned that the committee seems to be trying to placate our concerns but has not shown any real acknowledgement of the validity of our concerns as citizens of Cranston and particularly of Western Cranston.

When I see solar canopies at a plethora of industrial and city owned sites and solar panels on the rooftops of city buildings, schools and industrial buildings then I will start to believe that we are being heard and that the city really cares.
