A good letter, but these are the critical words: "Rhode Island remains subject to a state of emergency declared by Governor Raimondo in March...to continue our eligibility for critical federal funding to help cope with the massive heath and economic crisis caused by the virus." Last Spring, RI was granted more than a billion dollars to fund the virus issues, including aid to businesses, and most of that has not been spent. The Emergency is over (the medical services are adequate to the challenge) and the only reason it continues is because the politicians want more cash from Congress to bailout the State. The largest employer in this State is State government and it has not furloughed anyone because they are "essential", while the private sector is closing down because they are "unessential" and must wait until the politicians decide to bailout the "essential". This Congress will not grant a bailout for bloated state governments and the only reason for continuing this emergency is political. Period.
