Blue Angels descend upon Confreda Farms

At Confreda Farms, 40 Blue Cross associates gathered 2,450 pounds of excess produce for 10 local food pantries, valued at $1,744, that would otherwise go to waste.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of RI held its first company-wide day of community service, Blue Across Rhode Island, on Sept. 27. More than 700 employees contributed in excess of 3,200 volunteer hours in a single day, supporting more than 20 Rhode Island non-profits in efforts to help make a special impact within our communities.

“As a local non-profit organization, Blue Cross strives to be a good steward of the resources entrusted to us and Blue across Rhode Island further demonstrates our commitment to the community, which has always been at the heart of our corporate culture,” Peter Andruszkiewicz, president and CEO for Blue Cross, said in a release. “I am grateful for our associates who are volunteering, as well as for the agencies who serve a critical role in Rhode Island as they help those in need and make our community a better place to live.”
