CACTC graphics communication students create worldly prints

Regina Hogan’s CACTC graphics communications students last partnered with WaterFire for a truck decal project in early January where students applied the vinyl prints on the organization’s 12 trucks. In their latest partnership with the nonprofit, Hogan’s students created four large self-adhesive vinyl prints for WaterFire’s “Planet Earth, the Environment and Our Future” exhibition which is open from March 19 to May 1 at the WaterFire Arts Center. Hogan said the size of the prints ranged from 85” to 48”. She and four of her seniors went to WaterFire on March 18 to install the fine art prints, including a print of Katsushika Hokusai’s “Under the Wave off Kanagawa.” Hogan was also recently named CTE Teacher of the Year at the SkillsUSA awards night on March 30. According to WaterFire, this exhibition presents over thirty artworks by contemporary artists that expand upon the interconnected nature of the world – the exhibition also includes historical art, photographs and objects from several cultures stretching across the continents and spanning two centuries; tracing some of the Rhode Island connections to this larger story of discovery and exploration.

The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday – they will be open until 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.
