City, Elks partner for park hunt

Posted

Hundreds of children and families hopped at the chance to take part in the second annual Egg Hunt this past Saturday, April 8th.

The event, held on the ball fields at Warwick’s City Park, is a joint venture by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Tri-City Elks, a fraternal organization located on West Shore Road. In addition to the egg hunt itself, the hosts provided music, food trucks, a raffle and donation table filled with endless amounts of prizes. Of course, the Easter Bunny was in attendance for the opportunity to take photos. Elks employee and Egg Hunt Director Lori Amoroso said, “This is a lot of fun for the community and a great way to give back”. She pointed out that the organization prides itself on these charitable kinds of events holding various functions throughout the year.

Holly Weber, Recreation Coordinator of the Parks and Recreation Department, initially thought at first glance, perhaps the numbers of attendees was down from last year’s hunt. As she walked the grounds observing the fields, separated by the children’s ages, minutes prior to the hunts start, she quickly noticed quite the opposite. She said at that moment she realized this year’s event had been so very “well organized” that it went off seamlessly. The Warwick Police Department directed traffic and made for easy parking and access in and out of the park. It’s seems putting all their eggs in one basket this April was an overwhelming success for the Warwick Department of Parks and Recreation and the Tri-City Elks.
