Each year, the Cranston Teachers’ Alliance awards a $1,500 scholarship to two students each from Cranston High School East and Cranston High School West, and one student from the New England Laborers’/Cranston Public Schools Construction and Career Academy. The award is based on a set of criteria established by the Scholarship Selection Committee, which consists of the chairperson, guidance counselors and classroom teachers from the district. Criteria include academics, leadership roles, recommendations from a senior teacher, and need. This year’s recipients are Eric Halverson and Luke Maguire (pictured) of Cranston East, Erika Danelle and Rebecca Glick (both pictured) of Cranston West, and Thomas Smith of NEL/CPS. Also pictured are CTA officer manager Maria Manzi, president Liz Larkin and vice president Jack Santangelo. (Submitted photo)
