Cranston's King named to All-American game

Cranston’s Jeremy King, a sophomore at Cranston West, has been named to the Offense-Defense Junior All-American Bowl, which will be played in December at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
King will join dozens of his peers in his age group in an East meets West clash that is part of a week-long series of events. The week culminates with the nationally televised Offense-Defense All-American Bowl, a similar game which features high-school seniors.

CLCF holding cross country race

The Cranston League for Cranston’s Future (CLCF) Cross Country program will host the 9th annual Will Speck Youth Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the John H. Chafee Athletic and Recreation Complex at 450 Hope Road.
There will be races for boys and girls in two different age groups based on the participant’s age on the day of the race (under age 11, ages 12 to 14). Races are run on a 1.4 mile grass and asphalt path course within the athletic complex. There is a course walk-through at 3:15 p.m. and the races start at 4 p.m. There is no fee.

Registration on the day of the race begins at 3 p.m. Will Speck directed the CLCF track program from 1992 until his death in 2003. He started the cross-country running program in 2000.
