On Tuesday morning, the seniors at Cranston High School East gathered in the auditorium and donned their green and white graduation gowns for the first of their official graduation events: the second-annual Cranston East senior graduation walks.
The students split into three groups and boarded the buses that were outside, which took them to three schools over the course of the morning. Students were invited to visit their own elementary schools plus two others, for a walk back through time and for the opportunity to visit this year’s kindergarten, the class of 2030. Each kindergarten class was gifted with t-shirts made especially for the occasion. There were three different groups of buses traveling through the city, heading to various sets of schools.
As seniors arrived at each destination, they marveled at the sights, sounds and memories as they walked through the doors again, and saw some familiar faces from the elementary years. Waves, hugs, high-fives, and some tears could be seen throughout the hallways and oftentimes, “Pomp and Circumstance” could be heard playing in the background.
Graduation for Cranston East will be held on June 9 at the Providence Performing Arts Center at 9:00 a.m.
