The Cranston East football team was shut out 39-0 by East Providence last week at Cranston Stadium.
The Townies were led by Juan Diaz, who dominated with four rushing touchdowns to pace the East Providence offense. Jahad Davis-Pinto also added two scores in the win for East Providence, coming from 1 and 15 yards out.
The Thunderbolts remain winless on the season and will hit the road to take on Bishop Hendricken this Friday night.
The Cranston West Falcons flew south to take on Portsmouth and came up short in a tight 14-6 decision.
Portsmouth would get two touchdowns runs from Ben Hurd, coming from distances of 1 and 70 yards.
West quarterback Cam Alves scored West’s lone points late in the fourth quarter on an 18-yard run.
However, it was too little, too late as Portsmouth held on for the win to remain unbeaten. West dropped to 3-1 with the loss.
West will host visiting Barrington this Friday evening as the Falcons are set to also celebrate their homecoming.
