Friends and colleagues gathered at the state Department of Administration building on Friday to bid farewell to Kevin Flynn, who has retired as associate director of the Division of Planning after more than 30 years of service on the state and local levels. Flynn became Cranston’s planning director in 1981 and served in that role for more than 20 years, overseeing significant development during his tenure. He also resides in the city. “They say you can judge a person by the friends that he’s had,” Flynn told those on hand for the reception. “If I’m going to be judged, I couldn’t have asked for better.” (Herald photo)
