To the Editor,
One does not have to be a psychologist or a psychiatrist to know no child should endure gunfire as part of their daily life — one just needs to be a human being with common sense.
My name is Laura Fusco, I have an 11-year-old son who attends Western Hills Middle School and an 8-year-old son who attends George Peters Elementary. I live in the neighborhood of the Cranston Police gun range so my family gets no relief. We suffer with the daily barrage of “good” gunfire well into the evening.
I understand the need for the police to be properly trained. But, now that the Cranston police train on AR-15s and other military-grade weapons — and the range is rented to other municipalities — the Phenix Ave location is unsuitable. I implore the next mayor to move the range far away from children and civilians.

This is a dangerous situation. No community in a civilized society should have to live like this.
