On Saturday, Feb. 4, collectors and dealers from around the region gathered at the West Valley Inn for the 36th annual Cranston Sports Collectors Show, which is run by the St. Joseph’s Men’s Guild and benefits the Immaculate Conception Church. Featured tables included that of former Cranston police officer Bill Begones, who now owns AllStar Baseball Cards on Cranston Street, sports cartoonist Frank Galasso, Sports Heroes owner Michael Miller and nationally renowned Alan “Mr. Mint” Rosen. Other Cranston residents involved included Paul Mancini, an attorney who also has his own show the first Thursday of every month at the Kelley-Gazzero Post, and Mike Mangarsarian, a Northeast Account Executive for “On Your Feet” show company.
“This year’s show went very well,” said Tom McDonough, chairman and founder of the annual show. “I don’t think our attendance was what it was 10 years ago, but I think that can be attributed to the economy. But every dealer I talked to said they had a very good day.”
