Celebrating the educational community’s spirit of inclusion, students from Cranston East and Cranston West recently took part in a unified basketball game at East. Students from the basketball and volleyball teams received varsity letters, and Cranston East’s JROTC provided a unified color guard. In the end, East topped West by a score of 30-26. Emily Sanita led the East squad with 17 points, while Ryan Blake was West’s leading scorer with 16 points. Trista Watson, a life skills educator at Cranston East, noted that the school is working to become a Special Olympics Unified Champion School. West was one of the few schools in Rhode Island to receive the award.
