THE ADDAMS FAMILY
* * ½
(Cartoon version of classic family)
The Addams Family has a long history of success with its hit TV series, print cartoons, live action movies and even a Broadway musical. This cartoon feature succeeds with its messages about family, inclusion and assimilation, but fails in its boring plot line.
We meet all the interesting characters in the Addams extended family, as they strive to be accepted in their new digs in an abandoned former insane asylum in New Jersey. Their rival is a big-haired real estate agent and TV host (voice of Allison Janney) who wants to assimilate new residents in a ticky-tacky new neighborhood next to the Addams family. There is conflict and finally, after a seemingly long hour and a half, resolution.
Wednesday (voice of Chloe Grace Moretz) has a big part in the story, as she bridges the gap between the "normal" residents and the "freaky" Addams. The kids and adult fans will enjoy their favorite characters.
Rated PG, with some dark humor.
