What’s going on with the pool?

Thank you for your consideration.

I read with great interest your article about the Top Golf and Itri Square projects and how wonderfully the whole process was executed. (6/28/2023) However, I find it disheartening and frustrating that these multi-million-dollar projects will be completed in less time than a few million-dollar repair of a much-needed pool for our children.  Budlong Pool has needed repair since its closure in 2020 due to Covid. Wouldn’t it be nice, now that this early in the summer many of our saltwater and freshwater beaches are closed due to bacteria, if the pool was open for our refreshment and relaxation? This is not rocket science. There are thousands of pools open across this great nation including many in Providence. Please Mayor Hopkins, communicate with your public, listen to their wishes/needs, and execute a plan, so we don’t go another summer without our pool. Let’s use the American Rescue Plan Act dollars before the politicians in Washington take them back.

Cranston’s Chief-of-Staff Tony Moretti stated about Top Golf: “The amazing thing is how seamless the process has been so far…” I wish we could say the same about our Budlong Pool!
