Look at all the people that attended the St. Patricks Day Parade in West Warwick.

Those visitors are now attracted to West Warwick and might become new taxpayers. Why Warwick doesn't follow suit is a mystery to me. Warwick doesn't even have Christmas decorations at City Hall in December. (they are in storage) We have lost over 5,800 taxpayers in the last 10 years (according to the U.S. Census). Our students dropped from 17,000 to under 9,000. Warwick NEEDS to attract new taxpayers. A St. Patricks Day Parade and Christmas decorations are the least Warwick can do. As Mayor I will do a whole lot more. If we welcome back 5,800 taxpayers at $5,000 in tax revenue each that would increase our tax revenue by $29 MILLION DOLLARS. That's almost 10% of our entire annual budget and we wouldn't have to raise taxes one penny. Maybe we could even "Cut Taxes - Cut Spending".

Warwick can't continue to lose our taxpayers. We have to do "something" to attract new taxpayers. At present we're doing nothing, or close to it. That thought-process has got to reverse itself. It has to.

Happy Spring everyone.
