Cranston students awarded scholarships for public service

Posted

Bryeshia Jennings and Victoria Dorgan of Cranston received scholarships from the Rhode Island Association of Former Legislators Scholarship Fund at the Rhode Island Foundation.

Jennings, a 2014 graduate of the Paul Cuffee School, and Dorgan, a 2014 graduate of St. Patrick’s Academy, were recognized for their dedication and contributions to public service.

The fund provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are Rhode Island residents and have distinguished themselves with outstanding public service.

The students must have volunteered significant time and effort to community service to civic, religious, non-profit or other organizations in order to enrich their community.

The Rhode Island Foundation is the largest and most comprehensive funder of non-profit organizations in Rhode Island. In 2013, the foundation made grants of more than $31 million to organizations addressing the state’s most pressing issues and needs of diverse communities.

Through leadership, fundraising and grant-making activities, often in partnership with individuals and organizations, the foundation is helping Rhode Island reach its true potential. For more information, visit www.rifoundation.org.
