Cranston’s Baltzer-Fox appointed to RI Board of Physical Therapy

Wendy Baltzer-Fox, PT, DPT, GCS, WCS, of Cranston, supervisor of Women’s Health Physical Therapy Services at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, has been appointed to the Rhode Island Department of Health Board of Physical Therapy.

The board acts in an advisory capacity to the department and to the director of health in all matters pertaining to the practice of physical therapy. In her role on the board, Baltzer-Fox is responsible for the review and approval of applications for initial licensure, formulation and promulgation of rules and regulations pertaining to the practice of physical therapy, and exercising disciplinary authority over those who practice in the state.

A graduate of Boston University, Baltzer-Fox earned a doctorate in physical therapy from Simmons College in Boston. She is board certified in geriatric physical therapy and is the only physical therapist in Rhode Island to also be certified in women’s health. She is the past president of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, where she was an active member of the Section on Women’s Health, the Oncology Section, and Health Policy. Currently, Baltzer-Fox is the chief delegate from Rhode Island to the House of Delegates of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Women & Infants offers a comprehensive array of Women’s Health Physical Therapy Services to help women of all ages with a variety of conditions to enhance their quality of life and promote overall wellness. Inpatient services are provided in conjunction with the high-risk obstetrical service, postpartum services, and the Program in Women’s Oncology. Outpatient services are offered through the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery.
