The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, now in its 10th year, held its ninth annual Flames of Hope in downtown Providence this past weekend. From education to entertainment, celebration and memorial, the three-day event saw thousands in attendance despite some rain on Saturday. The rain stopped in time for the annual Torch Procession on Saturday evening during a special WaterFire, and the Race Series – including Nordstrom’s Pink Pump Palooza, Macy’s Kids Fun Run and The Walking Company’s 5K Walk/Run Series – was held on a chilly but bright Sunday morning. Friday night featured a special unveiling of the 2015 Calendar, which focuses on the BRCA gene that increases the odds of contracting breast cancer and those who tested positive for it.
