Orangetheory Fitness, dubbed the “best one hour workout in the country” by the New York Times, has announced a new studio opening in Cranston.

The Cranston studio is located in the Chapel View Shopping Center next to Shaw’s grocery store at 4 Chapel View Boulevard (intersection of Route 2 and Sockanosset Cross Road). This is the first Orangetheory studio to open in Rhode Island, although the brand will continue to target the Providence area for future expansion.

Owned and operated by Fitness Capital Ventures #2, LLC, the studio will offer special membership deals for founding members through Oct. 2.

As always, anyone new to Orangetheory receives a free workout on their first visit.

“We are passionate about health and wellness and are excited to bring Orangetheory Fitness to this community,” said Jay Wagnon, Orangetheory Fitness Cranston franchisee. “We can’t wait for Cranston residents to become part the Orangetheory family and start seeing results from the unique and high-energy workout.”

Grand opening festivities include the kick-off of Orangetheory Fitness’ “6-Week Weight Loss Challenge,” which begins on Oct. 3. The participants with the highest percent of weight loss will walk away with $2,500.

“Whether you participate in the challenge or join to experience the best 60-minute workout in the country, you’ll get toned, lose inches and gain energy,” said Ellen Latham, fitness expert and creator of the Orangetheory Fitness workout. “The success of our program speaks for itself when you see our contestants and members. The 6-Week Weight Loss Challenge has become a celebrated aspect of opening our new studio locations, and it’s the perfect way to experience amazing results, with the added bonus of a chance at a cash prize.”

Participants in the Weight Loss Challenge attend four, 60-minute Orangetheory Fitness sessions per week. The goal is to show the greatest improvement over six weeks, measured by percentage of weight loss. Participation is limited.
