On June 6, the Western Cranston Garden Club planted begonias, marigolds, and portulaca flowers with the kindergarten class at Garden City School. Amy Morino, the kindergarten teacher of 20 students, listened to Linda Alves, co-president of the garden club, talk about National Garden week – June 5-11 – and the importance of how plants help the environment. With the help and support of club members Jeanne Maddalena, Paula Munko, Beth Reale, and Linda Zogby, all 20 children came outdoors and planted the 26 flowers given by the garden club. In past years, this garden was established by teacher assistant Cheryl Celeste, who is also a member of Western Cranston Garden Club. Celeste is out of work due to an illness. She was missed by everyone. The club issued a big “thank you” to the kindergarten students and Morino for their help in beautifying the Garden City School garden.
