The Irish Ceilidhe Club of RI, located at 50 America St. in Cranston, held their annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on March 17. The day began with a welcome by Club President Bob Sheridan and Mass was said by (retired) Rev. John Kiley.
Following the Mass was a flag raising ceremony with the Irish Flag raised by Maureen Murphy as Jenn Lanigan sang the Irish National Anthem in Gaelic. Then, the American flag was raised by Vietnam veteran Gerry Lenau, as MaryLee Parkington sang The Star-Spangled Banner.
Once returning inside the Club, the crowd enjoyed corned beef sandwiches or hot dogs with a cash bar also available.
The winners of the Ireland Trip Raffle were Michael and Denise Cannon.
The festivities concluded with two hours of music by Irish and American Pub Music by The Irish Ramblers, Bob Carlson and Sean Gillooly.
