Church of the Annunciation serves up Greek favorites
IN THE KITCHEN: The Greek Food Fest, held on April 28 and 29, attracted a record crowd inside the Mihailidies Center-Demetrekas Hall. There were long lines of hungry patrons and volunteer super staffers. A key to the event’s success was the group of dedicated volunteers, including volunteer chefs, from left, Liz DeGaitas, Theofanis Markos, Harry Bablenis, Gabriel Daiaa and Dennis Sampalis.
SUPPLY AND DEMAND: Nektarlos Arsenis, pictured in the foreground, slices beef, lamb and breadcrumbs with a fellow staffer at the Church of the Annunciation’s third annual Greek Food Fest in Cranston recently. The meat was used for gyro sandwiches, which was one of the many popular items during the event. The Greek Orthodox parish, which is located at 175 Oaklawn Avenue, will hold its annual Cranston Greek Festival from Sept. 7 to 9.
