Conte tabbed to serve on Workers’ Compensation Court...

Governor Gina M. Raimondo today swore in Judge Alfredo T. Conte, the newest addition to the state Workers’ Compensation Court.

“Judge Conte is an expert in his field,” Raimondo said. “He literally wrote the book on workers’ compensation law in Rhode Island. I am confident he will continue our state’s strong tradition of serving workers effectively and efficiently.”

“I am humbled and honored to be joining the Workers’ Compensation Court,” Conte said.

Alfredo T. Conte has practiced as an attorney with the firm of Coia and Lepore since 1989, where his entire practice is devoted to workers’ compensation law. He is the author of Chapter 7 of “A Practical Guide to Workers’ Compensation in Rhode Island,” a resource published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education in 2011. Conte received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island and his law degree from the New England School of Law. He lives in Cranston.

Conte will replace Judge Robert M. Ferrieri, who Raimondo elevated last year to the position of Chief Judge on the Workers’ Compensation Court.

Workers’ Compensation Court has jurisdiction over employers and employees relative to work-related injuries, whether traumatic or occupational in nature, and resolves disputes regarding workers’ compensation. It is comprised of one Chief Judge and nine Associate Judges.
